The Norwood Evening Garden Club will virtually host Joann Vieira, the statewide director of horticulture for The Trustees of Reservations at 7 p.m. March 30 via Zoom.
Vieira is passionate about plants trees and shrubs in particular and will share some of her favorites, along with tips on sourcing and growing them. Guests will learn more about distinctive trees and shrubs that will add interest and sophistication to your garden year-round. And learn which ones are fragrant, which ones have an interesting form or winter presence, which ones have beautiful flowers and/or foliage and which ones are well suited to New England gardens.
Floretum Garden Club sponsoring another Edmonds Kids Garden event March 20-21 Posted: March 17, 2021
Building on the success of the first Edmonds Kids Garden last month at Kruckeberg Botanic Garden, the Edmonds Floretum Garden Club will be holding another event this weekend March 20-21.
The free event is open to Edmonds and Shoreline area youth and their families, and runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day. Join Floretum at Shoreline’s Kruckeberg Garden for a scavenger hunt and take-home activity kit that contains all the materials you need to grow a leprechaun’s favorite food spring strawberries at home. Limit one kit per child, while supplies last.

North Haven Garden Club received two entries into the essay contest sponsored by the National Garden Club, hope you enjoy reading the essay as much as I did.
Subject of essay was Adapting to Protect Natural Habitats by Tariq El Mammann. Â Tariq is a sophomore at North Haven High School and is active in varsity football and varsity lacrosse.
Challenges in Preserving Our Natural Habitats
Top challenges for habitats consist of, reduced water quantities, demands on land resources, overgrazing and fire suppression, climate change, limited understanding of complex natural systems, species on the brink, habitat loss, illegal wildlife trade, air and ocean plastic pollution.
