On Friday, April 15, the United States Army and the University of Kentucky College of Social Work (CoSW) will honor 24 graduating officers during a ceremony at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.
Growing up in Nigeria in the 1990s, UK College of Public Health alumna Chioma Okafor said HIV/AIDS was a disease that was spoken about in hushed tones and was often recognized as a death sentence. Using the knowledge she gained about global health disparities from her UK courses, Okafor now works for an international nonprofit to provide support to populations that are vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.
