Alverno College is launching a new public health degree program in the fall, broadening its offerings in high-demand fields. The program will advance the work of Alverno s strategic plan, which aims to support workforce development in southeastern Wisconsin and beyond.
Careers in public health have risen to the forefront due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects the field will continue to grow. Public health officials work tirelessly to keep people healthy and safe by preventing disease and injury, and their efforts have significantly increased life expectancy in the U.S., said Mary Kitten, DNP, RN, CRRN, public health program director. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s graduate program in health education and promotion has been ranked among the best in the country.
“I am extremely happy that this program has received this ranking as health education is a growing field within the public health domain,” Dr. Amar Kanekar, graduate coordinator of health education and promotion.
