Medford veteran to be honored with trip to National Purple Heart Hall of Honor
Local veteran Larry Rupp will visit the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor in West Point, New York.

MEDFORD, Ore. A Rogue Valley veteran and Purple Heart recipient has been chosen as one of the nation s 2021 Purple Heart Patriot Project honorees, which includes a pilgrimage to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor in West Point, New York.
U.S. Army Captain Lawrence Larry Rupp served two tours in Vietnam, receiving shrapnel wounds in January 1969 during a pair of attacks just two days apart. In May of that year, Rupp also suffered a gunshot wound while he was pursuing a Vietcong carrier.

He certainly pushed himself to the max.
A man from Charlotte, N.C., broke the Guinness World Record for most pushups completed in an hour, hitting a total of 3,050. The previous record was 2,900.
WRAL.com reports that TShane Johnson who is also a veteran of the Marine Corps spent five months training for the Saturday endeavor. A motivational speaker, Johnson explained that he takes on such feats as a means of getting “a lot of really great messages out.”

He managed to break the previous record of 2,900. He also attempted to break the 12-hour record for most pushups, which has stood at 19,325 for more than 30 years, but he fell short with only 16,400. Johnson’s record attempts raised money for the National Purple Heart Honor Mission.

May 3 (UPI) A North Carolina man broke a Guinness World Record when he performed 3,050 pushups in one hour, but he fell short in his attempt at a 12-hour pushup record.
TShane Johnson, a U.S. Marines veteran from Pineville, started his record attempt by performing 3,050 pushups in an hour, breaking the previous record of 2,900.

Johnson kept going for 11 more hours, attempting to break the record for most pushups in 12 hours, which as stood at 19,325 for more than 30 years.
The veteran finished his 12-hour pushup marathon with 16,400, falling short of the second record.

A former Albany Marine recruiter and Vietnam War veteran has been chosen to be one of the nation’s 2021 Purple Heart Patriot Project honorees.
Marine Staff Sgt. Oliver Hickok of Newburgh, a former Albany resident, is a two-time Purple Heart recipient who represented his fellow Purple Heart heroes from New York state at a multi-day tribute to the courage and sacrifice of American’s combat wounded. The Purple Heart Patriot Project is a program of the National Purple Heart Honor Mission.
