Together, these landmarks chart a broad path across Nebraska history, from prehistoric landscapes through pioneer settlements, many of which continue to be explored and enjoyed today. TSCA/FIFRA/TRI EPA Seeks Comments On Draft Compliance Guide Addressing Surface Coatings Under PFAS SNUR: On December 16, 2020, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of a draft compliance guide that outlines which imported articles are covered by EPA’s July 2020 final significant new use rule (SNUR) that prohibits companies from manufacturing, importing, processing, or using certain long-chain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) without prior EPA review and approval. 85 Fed. Reg. 81466. The draft guide provides additional clarity on what is meant by a “surface coating,” identifies which entities are regulated, describes the activities that are required or prohibited, and summarizes the notification requirements of the final SNUR. Democrats completed a political trifecta by winning two Senate runoff elections in Georgia and taking control of both chambers in the new Congress, along with the White House later this month. Those crucial victories left the Senate split 50-50 and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris with tie-breaking power after her swearing in on January 20. They also handed a dramatic boost to President-elect Joe Biden’s ability to push his upcoming legislative agenda. “You’ll see amazing things coming out of our new (committee) chairs and subcommittee chairs,” said Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who is scheduled to become the next Senate majority leader.

EPA seeking input on National Aquatic Resource Survey to improve future assessments. Jan 01, 2021 A new report from the Environmental Protection Agency, National Rivers and Streams Assessment (NRSA) 2013-2014: A Collaborative Survey, provides a historical snapshot of water quality in U.S. rivers and streams. The agency is seeking input on all aspects of the design and implementation of the National Aquatic Resource Survey program to improve future assessments. The NRSA report includes a comparison between water quality metrics in 2013-2014 and 2008-2009, which generally show that water quality in rivers and streams across the country remained relatively unchanged between 2008 and 2014.
