City of Decatur s 2021 City-wide Cleanup Dates Set

City of Decatur’s 2021 City-wide Cleanup Dates Set The City of Decatur in partnership with Waste Management/Advanced Disposal has set its 2021 city-wide cleanup dates.  Cleanups will be held on: Wednesday, May 12th 2-6 pm Thursday, September 2nd  2-6 pm Saturday, October 9th  8 am-12noon Residents will be allowed to dispose of large items for no charge. Items must be placed in roll off bins located within the parking lot. FACE coverings will be required as per the CDC guidelines.  Social distancing will also be required.  Residents will have to unload their items as there will not be any assistance when placing items into the roll-offs.

Warming Centers Available During Bitterly Cold Temps in Decatur With extremely cold temperatures arriving this weekend, the Macon County Emergency Management Agency Thursday announced the location of an additional warming center that will be available to the public this weekend. Decatur Eagles Aerie 507, 602 W. King St., will be hosting a Warming Center on Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th from 10 am-5 pm.  Capacity is 30 people. There will be soft drinks, coffee, soup, hot dogs & chips and cookies provided. There is no charge. Meanwhile the EMA says the following partners continue their mission of serving the community.  Their services become especially vital when we face cold weather extremes. The Agency wants to Thank all who step up and work to protect our vulnerable populations.
