COVID-19: Sindh government to shut schools for 16 days as precautionary measure

Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to suspend for 16 days in-person classroom teaching of students of up to Class 8 in all the government-run and private schools of the province as a pre-emptive precaution against the spread of third wave of deadly coronavirus infections. The in-person classroom teaching of students of up to Class 8 will remain suspended from April 06 to April 21, 2021. A formal notification to this effect has been issued by the Sindh government’s Secretary for its Department of School Education and Literacy, Ahmed Bakhsh Narejo. The teaching staff of both the government-run and private schools, however, will continue to physically come to the educational institutions during this time.

Karachi April 1, 2021 Waqar Hussain Shah, a former member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), on Wednesday announced joining the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) along with a large number of his political associates from the Korangi area. The announcement to this effect was made by the former MPA while speaking at a news conference along with Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani, who is also the president of the PPP’s Karachi chapter. Speaking on the occasion, Ghani claimed that the former lawmaker was joining the PPP along with over 500 of his political associates, but he had shown up at the news conference with a few of them in view of the restrictions imposed due to the spread of the coronavirus.

The minister said the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), in its meeting today, overviewed the country s coronavirus situation.
