Mumbai Metro s first driverless train to arrive on January 27 IANS / Updated: Jan 21, 2021, 06:25 IST Mumbai Metro will get its first of its indigenously-manufactured driverless trains from Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. Bengaluru, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde said on Wednesday. The first of these automatic Metro trains will reach the Charkop Metro Carshed in Mumbai on January 27 and after operational tests, will be deployed on the two new Metro routes scheduled to start from May this year, he said. This will be a driverless Metro train, running automatically. But, in order not to panic or make passengers feel unsafe, for around six months initially, they will be operated by a motorman. The trains will have a max speed limit of 80kmph, said Shinde.

The NCRTC is implementing RRTS, a first-of-its-kind semi-high-speed rail line which will reduce the journey time between Delhi and Meerut to just 60 minutes, compared to the current 90-100 minutes, and with a maximum speed of 160 kmph.
