Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) is likely to start
services on the much-awaited Metro 2A (Dahisar-DN Nagar) and Metro 7 (Dahisar East to Andheri East) routes by May after it received the first indigenously built rake from Bharat Earth Movers Limited this week.
The rakes were unveiled in the city by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his deputy Ajit Pawar at the Charkop depot on Friday. MMRDA officials said trials would be conducted for the next two months before giving the green signal.

QuEST Global, a product engineering company, has launched a Train Control and Management System (TCMS) laboratory at its Hyderabad facility.
With the launch of this lab, the company is also planning to hire over 200 engineers in Hyderabad with expertise across all phases of the software development lifecycle, test automation, and ethernet and internet protocol technology.
The 5,800-sq.ft. lab will facilitate the verification and validation of safety-critical TCMS software for multiple functionalities. It will house test racks for various product families of Bombardier Transportation.

India adopts ground-breaking European Train Control System for mainline railways for the first time
Alstom has won a contract worth €106 million from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation Ltd. (NCRTC) to design, supply and install the signalling, train control and telecommunication system (Package 24) of the 82.15 km Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor. NCRTC is a joint venture between the Government of India and States of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. It is implementing RRTS, a first-of-its-kind semi-high-speed rail line which will reduce the journey time between Delhi and Meerut to just 60 minutes, compared to the current 90-100 minutes, and with a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
