Expressing support for two-week lockdown in the state, the federation claimed that it is needed to prevent state’s health system from collapsing. According to a report published in the New Indian Express, raising voice in support of lockdown in Telangana, Convenor of Telangana Doctors Federation and Public health specialist Dr. PS Vijayender said that currently, the state is witnessing a lack of availability of hospital beds, short supply of oxygen, ventilators and home care equipment.

Express News Service HYDERABAD: The overworked and tired doctors community is overwhelmingly demanding imposition of a statewide lockdown, citing exhausted manpower and resources. Stating that the high number of deaths due to delayed admissions is a cause for concern, they say a two-week lockdown is the only way to save lives and keep the hospitals from collapsing. We are in a situation where there is no bed availability. There is a short supply of oxygen, ventilators and even equipment for home care. Politicians must take a stand and impose lockdown to save lives, Dr PS Vijayender, Convenor of Telangana Doctors Federation and Public health specialist, says.
