Power outages in Texas: 13,000 were still without power in Austin on Friday

Some in the city like Thea Clay, however, were still without electricity heading into Friday evening. Clay and her family live in a condo in a four-unit building near the intersection of Southridge Drive and Bannister Lane in South Austin. While most of the neighboring apartment complexes have gotten their power restored, Clay around 1 p.m. Friday was still wearing her multiple layers of clothes and trying to keep warm.  She lost power on Monday at 2 a.m. It flickered on and off until 4 a.m., when it went away for good. It finally returned Friday evening, after almost 115 hours without electricity.

Park in Bluewater Bay could open in April in honor of Abram Sitcer

SHALIMAR   A children’s park in Bluewater Bay to honor a boy who died in an early 2019 accident could be ready to open to the public in April. Twelve-year-old Abram Sitcer died April 28, 2019, when his bicycle was struck by a car at the roundabout intersection of Bluewater Boulevard and Southwind Drive in Bluewater Bay. In remembrance of Abram, the owners of the Bluewater Bay Golf Course have donated a 1-acre parcel on Southwind Drive, about a quarter-mile south of the accident scene, for the park, to be called Abram Park. The golf course owners partnered with Okaloosa County, the Bluewater Bay Municipal Services Benefit Unit (MSBU) and the nonprofit Friends of Bluewater Bay to establish the park.

‘Live and active’ pipe bomb found near Araby Trail in Palm Springs Police in Palm Springs are working to find who s responsible for planting a live and active pipe bomb near a hiking trailhead. The bomb was found in the area of Southridge Drive and Rim Road, near the entrance to the heavily trafficked Araby Trail. A Sheriff s Dept. hazardous device team was called in and detonated the bomb before clearing the area. Smoke was seen rising after the detonation. We got a call at about ten to 5 p.m. tonight about a suspicious device at one of our trailheads, said Sgt. Marcus Litch with PSPD. Came out to do the investigation, appeared to possibly be a pipe bomb.
