A Johannesburg resident is terrified he will die in hospital after what he claims is inadequate care by medical staff, which has left him with a gaping hole in his abdomen right near a burst colostomy bag.
The family of Garrith Anderson, 33, claim he was left lying in the colostomy debris for a day as hospital workers were too busy to help clean him.

The Gauteng Department of Health says it has put measures in place to minimise the disruption of healthcare services due to the fire at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.

The hospital has been temporarily closed following the fire that broke out at it special dispensary store on Friday.
The blaze subsequently spread to other parts of the hospital and was only doused on Saturday.
The department moved all patients to the nearest facilities.
The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng have called for an immediate investigation into the blaze.

JOHANNESBURG – A young Johannesburg mother has described her agonising ordeal at the South Rand Hospital where she gave birth on her own, without medical assistance.
The 23-year-old told
Eyewitness News how she screamed for help, but no one came to her rescue.
She said that she lost consciousness after giving birth to her baby boy, who then fell to the floor in a pool of blood.
