North Devon and Torridge will be faced with further restrictions once the national lockdown ends on December 2.
Areas across England will be placed into one of three tiers when the lockdown ends, but the system has been toughened.
North Devon Council and Torridge District Council areas will be placed in tier two along with the rest of the county – a level higher than before the national lockdown.
The Government outlines tier two areas as ones with a higher or rapidly rising level of infections.
At tier two, households are not allowed to mix indoors, with a maximum of six people permitted outdoors.
A: There is no doubt that change is happening and it is important to embrace it, but retail will always be a core function of town centres.
It is important that the shift to ‘shopping local’ is embraced. North Devon Council has launched the ‘Live Love Local’ campaign in support of local businesses and to let the public know that they have reopened safely and are ready to welcome them back.
It is also important that the sense of community is built upon. If our high streets are to flourish, they need to be the heart of the town centre and their community once again.
“We had everything from Santas playing tennis, to a running nativity scene; people really got creative and have raised an incredible amount of money at the same time.”
Santas on the Run goes Freestyle was supported by community partner Whirlwind Sports. The money raised will help CHSW to continue providing vital care and support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families throughout the Christmas period and beyond.
