More than 100 vehicles were burglarized in Newington on Dec. 8. Days later, more than 40 were burglarized in Meriden. During these recent patrols, police took a suspect into custody early Sunday morning, Lt. John Mennone said. After getting a call about suspicious activity, officers flooded the area with patrol units and tried to stop a suspicious vehicle in the South Meriden area, he said.

Police: Teen charged with car break-ins tried to flee in ride share car Police: Teen charged with car break-ins tried to flee in ride share car December 14, 2020 02:50PM By Lauren Sellew, Record-Journal staff MERIDEN — A teen charged in connection with a car break-ins apparently was attempting to flee by calling Lyft for a ride.   Jensen Rodriguez, 18, of 459 Zion St., Hartford, was charged Sunday with sixth-degree larceny, possession of marijuana and simple trespass.  Police, who have deployed “proactive patrols” following a recent rash of car break-ins, received a report of a suspicious vehicle early Sunday, Lt. John Mennone, police spokesman, said in a release Monday.
