Seven Catalytic Converters Stolen From Cars In South Brunswick

(Shutterstock) SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ Seven catalytic converters were stolen from cars in South Brunswick over the past four months, police said. According to the police, similar incidents occurred throughout the state during the same time period. Catalytic converters are part of a vehicle s exhaust system that helps reduce toxic gasses and pollutants into the air. Subscribe Police said catalytic converters are a target for thieves as they contain valuable metals such as platinum. Most of the thefts occur during the early morning hours, said the police. Actors use a battery operated sawzall, crawl under the vehicle, make two quick cuts and remove the catalytic converter.
