Celebrate National Doughnut Day at Five-O Donut Co.
All three Five-O Donut Co. locations, which are all in Sarasota County, will be open from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. (or they re all sold out) and giving away one free simple doughnut per person with any transaction.
The first 12 individual transactions at each location will get a free Five-O Squad T-shirt.
Five-O is also offering specials and ready-to-go grab boxes to keep wait times down. For $12, you can get a pre-boxed selection of 12 simple doughnuts (regular price $19) or six mixed doughnuts (two simple, four fancy ) for $12 (regular price $15.) SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Officers with the Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit are investigating two recent fatal traffic crashes and is reminding the public to drive and walk safely.
On Sunday, May 2, at about noon, a 57-year-old Sarasota man was crossing U.S. 301 near 21st Street, not in a crosswalk, when he was struck by a truck. The pedestrian died as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash, police said.
On Friday, April 30, at about 6:45 a.m., a four-door sedan was traveling on South Tamiami Trail, attempting to turn onto Bee Ridge Road. The vehicle turned in front of a motorcycle that was traveling on South Tamiami Trail. The motorcycle rider, a 29-year-old Sarasota man, died of his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.

VENICE, Fla. - A Venice man with a lengthy criminal record – an animal, according to the sheriff – has been arrested for ambushing a motel housekeeper and beating her so badly that she later died.
According to the sheriff’s office, it was just after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday when deputies were called to the Rodeway Inn on South Tamiami Trail. A housekeeper there had been found beaten in one of the rooms; she was rushed to the hospital where she later passed away.
