Court hears mother and teen daughter confronted intruder who broke into their Cork city home

A householder and her teenaged daughter confronted an intruder who broke into their home after six o’clock in the morning and now he has been remanded in custody.
That was the allegation made by Detective Garda James Bugler who objected to bail being granted to Florin Mitache with an address at South Douglas Road, Cork.
Det. Garda Bugler charged the 46-year-old with breaking into the house at Model Farm Road, Cork, on Thursday morning, May 13, having housebreaking equipment, assaulting the householder and assault causing harm to her daughter.

TENDER documents for the planned upgrading of Half Moon Lane and the junction of Half Moon Lane with South Douglas Road to provide a new pedestrian and cycle access to Tramore Valley Park have been published.
Cork City Council published the tender documents for the construction work to the National Transport Authority (NTA) funded Half Moon Lane Upgrade Scheme on Thursday.
“This opening will open Tramore Valley Park to a massive swathe of the city and people will be able to use this public amenity without resorting to driving,” Labour local area rep Peter Horgan said, welcoming the publication of the documents.
OBITUARY: Literary Limerick mourns Mark Whelan

LITERARY Limerick will mourn the death of Poet Mark Whelan of Vizes Court, off St. Joseph’s Street, and formerly of Colbert Park, Janesboro who passed away (peacefully) at University Hospital, Limerick on Tuesday January 19 2021.
Mark was born in Limerick in 1960 and, with Paul Sweeney, was instrumental both in the establishment of Cuisle Limerick City International Poetry Festival, of which he was a committee member, and in the revival of The Stony Thursday Book literary journal, for which he was editor of four editions.
His collections of poetry are Scarecrow Dyptich (Anam, Press, 2003), Pushing The Pull Door (Revival Press, 2008, with illustrations by Limerick artist John Shinnors), and The Seer of Wounds (Doghouse, 2012).
