This offender had no regard for their position as police officers, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said. Dawn Hasbrouck reports.
CHICAGO - A 45-year-old man is accused of shooting two police officers Sunday morning in Lawndale on the West Side.
Bruce Lua, who was also shot in the incident, is charged with two felony counts each of attempted murder and aggravated battery of a peace officer, as well as one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, Chicago police said.

CHICAGO - At least six people were killed and 42 others were wounded over the weekend in Chicago as gun violence continues its sharp rise from last year. A 2-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy were among those shot, as well as two uniformed Chicago police officers.
The number of people shot was almost double what it was last weekend, when five people were killed and 21 others hurt in gun violence across the city.
As of Monday morning, at least 1,187 people had been shot in the city this year and there have been at least 214 homicides. That’s a sharp rise from last year, when 886 were shot over the same period and there were 187 homicides.
