Search for one missing SC teen ends as another begins

OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. Authorities in a South Carolina county that first alerted residents in two states of a missing teen said on Saturday that she has been found safe. But now they re searching for another.
The search was first initiated by the Oconee County, South Carolina Sheriff s Office when a 13-year-old girl left her home sometime between 10 p.m. May 4 and 7 a.m. on May 5.

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– In a ceremony held Tuesday evening, the South Carolina Sheriff’s Association honored fallen Sumter County Cpl. Andrew Gillette with the Medal of Valor. Cpl. Gillette’s wife, Marie Gillette, accepted the award on her husbands behalf. Cpl. Gillette was killed in the line of duty on February 25, 2020.

The two others who were with Gillette when he was shot, SSgt. September Craft and Sr. Cpl. Gary Beaver, were also honored at the event with a Medal of Valor for their bravery.
The video, posted Monday by a woman on Facebook and shared thousands of times, shows a man, identified as Pentland, demanding that a Black man leave the neighborhood and using obscenities before threatening him with physical violence. You re in the wrong neighborhood, Pentland, standing on the sidewalk, can be heard saying to the other man before using an expletive. I ain t playing with you. . I m about to show you what I can do.
According to Shirell Johnson, who posted the video, the incident happened in a subdivision of The Summit, which has a Columbia address but is technically outside the city s limits. The video doesn t show what started the conflict.

MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A South Carolina nonprofit is now aiming to help the family of a fallen Marion County sheriffâs deputy.
Serve & Connect is currently hosting an online fundraiser for the family of Jonathan David Price after he died in the line of duty following a crash Wednesday night.
Price, 29, had served with the Marion County Sheriffâs Office since last September, and previously served with the Dillon Police Department. He also leaves behind a wife and three young children, according to officials.
