According to the criminal complaint, Wausau police responded about 4:15 p.m. Feb. 3, 2020, to a home on South Ninth Avenue after a man called 911 and said he had been stabbed. As officers arrived, Hardy-Opper ran from the house and police chased him.
Inside the house, officers found a man sitting in a chair in the kitchen with a pool of blood on the floor around him, according to the complaint. Officers gave him first aid, and he was taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Later, detectives interviewed the man, who said Hardy-Opper left for work around 4 p.m. that day but returned home a few minutes later and was acting off. The man then asked Hardy-Opper if he had been using drugs, which upset Hardy-Opper, who then smashed a mirror and TV, according to the complaint.
