MARSHALL The future of the Marshall Area Childcare Center is looking more solid after Marshall School Board members approved an agreement with a local childcare business to privatize the center.
The agreement, which went before the school board on Monday, sets a target date of July 1 for Canoga Park Childcare to take over operations of MACC.
Canoga Park currently operates two child care centers in Marshall. The business offered a proposal for MACC in April as community members were working with the school district to keep MACC open.
“Conversations have gone really well with Canoga Park Childcare,” said MPS Superintendent Jeremy Williams. Hopefully the arrangement will help meet local needs for child care, he said.

COSHOCTON – The city of Coshocton will turn the intersection of Chestnut and North 16th streets into a four-way stop, even though that doesn’t seem to satisfy residents of the area.
The city is receiving a $500,000 Small City Safety Grant through the Ohio Department of Transportation for upgrades of traffic control devices. It’s targeted for summer 2024. Safety Service Director Max Crown said traffic lights in the city range from the 1950s to 1980s. Funding will be used to replace traffic lights along South Second Street and at the intersection of Sixth and Walnut streets, Crown said.
The traffic light out of commission at the intersection of Chestnut and North 16th streets dates back to 1952 and cannot be repaired, Crown said. He also said ODOT would be taking the device for a museum display. Removal is supported by a recent traffic study and ODOT recommendation. City officials met with ODOT representatives on the grant project on Monday.
