Obituary January 1, 2021 PESHAWAR: The wife of noted business community leader and Frontier Customs Agents Association President Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, passed away after a brief illness. Her funeral procession was taken out from the family residence, House No 99, Street No 5, H/2, opposite Haji Turangzai Sahib Market, Phase-II in Hayatabad. She was laid to rest at a well-attended funeral. The deceased was the mother of Imranul Haq Advocate, Naumanul Haq, Zeeshanul Haq and mother-in-law of Bakht Baidar and Umar Sani. Her rasm-e-qul will be offered today (Friday) after the Juma prayer in Hayatabad.

AFP/File PESHAWAR: The district administration imposed smart lockdown in nine areas of Peshawar as positivity for Covid-19 swabs swelled to 11 per cent in the capital city of the province. A notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali Asghar on the recommendation of health department prohibited entry and exist of people except those dealing in essential items from 6pm on Thursday to the areas till further order. A health department report said that eight people died of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours including three in Peshawar, two in Kohat and one each in Swabi, Abbottabad and Bannu. The province also reported 384 new cases including 174 from Peshawar. So far, 1,585 persons have fallen prey to the virus while 56,544 patients have recorded from the infectious ailment.

He said the lockdown has been imposed in 22 areas of Lahore, nine of Rawalpindi, four of Gujranwala, three of Gujrat and two areas of Hafizabad.

Besides, eight people lost their battle against Covid-19 in the twin cities. According to the district administration spokesperson, six areas fall in Rawalpindi, two in Taxila and one in Kallar Syedan. The areas are Street No. 7 in Muslim Town, street nos 6 and 8 in Chaklala Scheme-III, street nos 10 and 19 in Airport Housing Scheme, New Morgah Road, Street No. 2 in Zaman Colony, Allahabad, Gulshan Khursheed on Karamabad Road, Jaba Kanoha Village in Kallar Syedan, Kohsar Colony in Taxila and Street No. 4 in Gulistan Colony in Wah Cantonment.

Lockdown has been imposed in 22 neighbourhoods in Lahore, nine in Rawalpindi, four in Gujranwala and three in Gujrat. The entry and exit points of the locations have been sealed. The timings for the shops is as follows: Grocery stores, fruits and vegetable shops, and petrol pumps will be open from 9am to 7pm, seven days a week.
