THE largest housing provider in the South West has joined forces with a leading UK home builder to complete one of the first modular homes developments in the region. The partnership between LiveWest and Keepmoat Homes has paved the way for 41 modular homes to be constructed at The Parade, Bridgwater, as part of a site delivering a total of 159 homes. As part of the project, ilke Homes manufactured the 41 homes along production lines at the company’s factory in Knaresborough, Yorkshire. Once complete, the homes were loaded onto the back of lorries and transported to the site, before being craned into place and installed.

BRIDGWATER residents have begun to benefit from new factory-built homes being erected on the town’s former cattle market. Sedgemoor District Council entered into a partnership with Keepmoat Homes to deliver a total of 159 homes off the A38 Bristol Road, with planning permission being granted in February 2018. Construction on the £25m project began in May 2018, with 41 of the 159 home being modular – meaning they were constructed in pieces in a factory off-site, transported to Bridgwater and then assembled. These new homes (on what has been dubbed The Parade) are now being snapped up by local residents, who are taking advantage of their eco-friendly nature and relatively low running costs.
