PPP Update
As the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) opens the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) application portal to lenders, ACCD is encouraging businesses to explore applying for the more than $284 billion has been allocated to this program nationally.
Friday, the portal was opened to lenders with $1 billion or less in assets for First and Second Draw applications. The portal will fully open on Tuesday, January 19th to all participating PPP lenders to submit First and Second Draw loan applications to the SBA.

SPRINGFIELD â The Vermont Everyone Eats program that has provided free restaurant to-go meals to COVID-impacted Vermonters since August is being put on hold as of December 31.
Everyone Eats has engaged more than 170 Vermont farms and food producers, played a key role in keeping more than 150 restaurants in business, and provided more than 500,000 meals to members of communities in all 14 Vermont counties. This program was made possible in 2020 with CARES Act funding through a grant from VT Agency of Commerce and Community Development to Southeastern Vermont Community Action (SEVCA) and partnerships with 14 Community Hubs around Vermont. All program partners would like to continue and are working to identify new sources of funding to continue in 2021.

In mid-March, the State of Vermont ordered restaurants and bars to close to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The rules were relaxed in late May, and restaurants reopened with restrictions in place. Current regulations limit restaurant diners to one household per party. As rules shifted, so did the food and beverage industry. Takeout took off, and restaurants offered groceries and other provisions along with meals. Bars mixed cocktails to-go. Heat-and-eat meals popped up at farms, general stores and at least one brewery. On the consumer end, demand increased for locally grown and produced goods, from beef to beets. Vermont Business Magazine People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, NA, announced the awards of $314,500 in grants to 54 nonprofit organizations throughout Vermont during 2020.
This year’s grant donations were focused on COVID-19 relief and recovery efforts. Organizations working with communities that are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic were provided with flexible funding to use however it was needed. Funding was allocated to 54 nonprofit organizations that are addressing the communities’ most urgent needs and challenges, including basic needs, workforce development, housing, and financial education counseling in addition to helping organizations pivot to virtual educational programming and the continuation of vital support and family services for vulnerable populations.
