Police identify female officer hit by stolen truck December 26 2020 The suspect in the Dec. 24 incident that injured the 15-year veteran is still at large. The Portland police officer injured Thursday night, Dec. 24, when struck by a stolen vehicle has been identified as Jennifer Pierce, a 15-year veteran of the Portland Police Bureau. According to the bureau, Pierce suffered a broken pelvis and is recovering in an area hospital. She is also the officer who fired a weapon during the confrontation in which the suspect escaped. Police had previously described the officer as lucky to be alive. The incident unfolded shortly before 9 p.m. on Dec. 24 when police responded to a report of a stolen truck with two people inside at a gas station in the 3900 block of Southeast Powell Boulevard. It had been stolen Monday, Dec. 21, from a nearby repair shop.

Pierce suffered a fractured pelvis and remains hospitalized, police said in a statement Saturday. Police responded to reports of a stolen pickup truck at a 76 gas station on Southeast Powell and Cesar Chavez Boulevards just before 9 p.m. When police cars attempted to box in the stolen truck, the 1988 Chevrolet pickup rammed into Pierce, who was standing outside of her patrol car, pinning her between the two vehicles, according to the pickup truck’s owner. The 42-year-old truck owner, who asked not to be named because of safety concerns, said he and his girlfriend were at the scene when the police surrounded his stolen pickup.

Police said they responded to reports of the shooting shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday. They found a man shot multiple times at the intersection of Southeast 68th Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard. The man’s injuries were serious but not life-threatening, according to Portland police. They did not identify him. Police provided a photo of a car that was apparently hit by bullets during the shooting, too.
