Aurora resident Mumba Kabemba, a student at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, has received a $1,500 scholarship from the Aurora Area Retired Teachers Association.
Dick Schindel of Aurora, association president and former East Aurora School District 131 educator, made the announcement.
Kabemba, a 2019 West Aurora High School graduate, is a second-year business administration major at the community college. Her career goal is to become a business adviser to women in refugee camps.

Aurora Advent Christian Church congregants donated $2,300 for the Family Blessing tree and Salvation Army yuletide gift drives.
Senior Pastor Rev. Matt Mull said, We were able to deliver a check for over $1,200 to the Salvation Army (Aurora Corps) for Angel Tree gifts and about $1,100 for the Family Blessing project!
According to Rev. Mull, a White Gift Family Blessing tree debuted in the church lobby.
