It has been a long time since the buying and selling of real estate between individuals started in Nepal. However, it has been only about three decades since this sector has evolved as a business industry.
Who started this, when, how and for what purpose? Let’s get into the details of the history of the real estate business in Nepal.
1. Land within the ambit of law
As mentioned by the Department of Land Management and Archive, in the Muluki Ain issued in 1853/54 under the Prime Minister Junga Bahadur Rana, there were provisions about renting land and related affairs.
Public Works, mayors to identify abandoned buildings
The Department of Public Works is working with the island s mayors to identify abandoned buildings in their villages, Public Works Director Vince Arriola said.
He sent a letter to the mayors a few weeks ago and received responses from the Sinajana and Dededo mayors as of Tuesday.
Public Works already has cited several properties in the Tumon area and has received a positive response, he said. Two houses along Happy Landing Road are being cleaned up and boarded up, Arriola said. We re getting responses, Arriola said.
Glenn San Nicolas, with Guam Environmental Protection Agency, said the owner of a parking garage in Tumon is looking for vendors to clean up the place.
The Svay Rieng Provincial Administration has issued a statement warning people to be cautious when buying land in the province because there were some individuals and companies selling plots of land without a proper licence.
