Public Works, mayors to identify abandoned buildings
The Department of Public Works is working with the island's mayors to identify abandoned buildings in their villages, Public Works Director Vince Arriola said.
He sent a letter to the mayors a few weeks ago and received responses from the Sinajana and Dededo mayors as of Tuesday.
Public Works already has cited several properties in the Tumon area and has received a positive response, he said. Two houses along Happy Landing Road are being cleaned up and boarded up, Arriola said.
"We're getting responses," Arriola said.
Glenn San Nicolas, with Guam Environmental Protection Agency, said the owner of a parking garage in Tumon is looking for vendors to clean up the place.
