Sample survey underway in city to elicit people’s views on COVID-19 vaccines

Mysore/Mysuru: To elicit people’s opinion about the two vaccines, Covaxin and Covishield approved by Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for emergency recently, the students and staff of Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College, Mysuru, have taken up a sample survey in city.
“We have taken up this sample survey in Nazarbad area which has a population of 44,000 people. Opinion of each person is recorded. This survey is only for research purpose,” Dr. Mudassir Azeez Khan, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, told SOM.

The Northern States Governor’s Forum (NSGF) on Thursday, said its members have agreed to take the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine when it arrives Nigeria.
The Chairman NSGF, Governor of Plateau State, Honorable Simon Lalong in a webinar organized by an NGO, the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF), gave the assurance on behalf of his colleagues.
The safety and efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccine were also discussed.
Represented by the Secretary to the Plateau State Government (SSG), Professor Danladi Atu, Lalong said: “we the Northern Governors have agreed to take the first doses of the vaccines”.

A lecturer from the Department of Community Medicine, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Professor Clara Ejembi, on Thursday said the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination does not prevent infection.
Speaking during a webinar organized by an NGO, the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF), Professor Ejembi noted that the need for people to continue to practice preventive measures is important and all actors must be on board.
This was as Northern States Governor’s Forum (NSGF) said its members have agreed to take the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine when it arrives in Nigeria.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], January 27 (ANI): In light of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases being reported in Kerala, the state government on Wednesday decided to impose tight restrictions and deploy police to monitor compliance with COVID-19 protocol.
On Tuesday, as many as 6,293 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Kerala, the highest in the country. The total number of active and recoveries cases in the state are 71,607 and 8,24,446 respectively, the state health department informed.
As per a statement, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a review meeting said that the government is working to reduce the spread of the disease by mid-February.
Delhi government diverts Covaxin to 6 Centre-run hospitals

NEW DELHI - The Delhi government has rationed the tranche of two Covid-19 vaccines it has stocked in 81 hospitals finalised for the launch of a massive immunization drive against the novel coronavirus in the national capital.
However, the distribution pattern has raised a few eyebrows as the Cvaccine by Bharat Biotech, Covaxin, has been allotted only to six Centre-run hospitals, including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Safdarjung, and Ram Manohar Lohia (RML), a list of hospitals with the vaccines allotted by the Delhi government revealed.
Meanwhile, 75 hospitals which include state-run and private hospitals, will receive Covishield, developed by Oxford/AstraZeneca with Serum Institute of India (SII), which is handling its marketing and production in the country.
