Department of Civic Education
The Department of Civic Education was instituted in 2007 to educate the citizenry on various socio and economic issues with the aim of imparting knowledge and influencing positive behavior and mindset change.
The department coordinates and employs various communication interventions to enhance and influence a positive behavior change in order to create an informed, knowledgeable, and proactive nation.
The Department coordinates the provision of civic knowledge, management and coordination of civic education programmes through the following functions:
Provision of policy guidance in civic education matters
Educating the citizenry on government development policies and programmes
Educating the citizenry on various topical and emerging issues
About The Ministry
Introduction
The Department of Human Resources Management and Development is still working on the structure for the Ministry. The proposed structure is perceived to consist of the Department of Civic Education, Department of National Unity, The Policy and Planning Unit and the Administration and Support Services.

To create a conducive environment for civic empowerment of citizens and promote sustainable peace and unity for national development.

Mission
To coordinate and regulate civic education services and promote national peace and unity through the enforcement of civic education policies, promotion of shared public interests and values and supporting collaborative peace building and conflict management interventions for national development.
