RU students stage sit-in, give 24hr ultimatum for reopening halls, campus

Students of Rajshahi University today staged a sit-in in front of the residence of the vice chancellor and gave the authorities a 24-hour ultimatum for reopening of the campus and dormitories.
Over 100 students brought out a protest procession from Paribahan Chattar around 11:00am and stopped in front of the VC s residence, parading the main roads inside the campus.
Then, they started the sit-in programme there, reports our RU correspondent.
They were shouting slogans: Vaccine ano, vaccine dao, campus khule dao (give vaccine, reopen campus), and Moder dabi ektai, hall campus khola chai (there s only one demand, reopen halls campus).

The university authorities took the decision today in a monthly syndicate meeting.
Seeking anonymity, a syndicate member confirmed the development to The Daily Star this evening.
The teachers are: Samia Rahman of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism; Syed Mahfujul Haque Marjan of the Department of Criminology; and Muhammad Omor Faruq of the Department of Islamic History and Culture.
Samia Rahman, who was discharging duties as associate professor, has been demoted to assistant professor.
