One of the main highway accesses to downtown Montreal, the Rue de la Montagne / Rue Saint-Jacques exit of Highway 720 eastbound, has been closed since Sunday evening and will remain closed until spring 2022.
Exit number 4, located at the entrance to the Ville-Marie tunnel, normally allows all drivers arriving in the city to quickly access Saint-Jacques, Saint-Antoine, de la Montagne, Peel, and Notre-Dame streets, among others.
The Quebec Ministry of Transport explains that these obstacles are required in order to proceed with the complete repair of the exit. Drivers wanting to leave Highway 720 East to go downtown will therefore have to take the Atwater or Guy Street exits or drive in the Ville-Marie tunnel to the Boulevard Saint-Laure
