Kentucky State Police have a stuffed bunny for sale with bids as high as $590

WNKY 40 News April 6, 2021 BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – An April Fools Day joke has turned into a fundraiser for a program helping children in traumatic situations. After someone at Kentucky State Police headquarters purchased a stuffed bunny and dressed it up like a Trooper Teddy, people from across the state tried to buy it. So, with all the interest, KSP posted the little bunny on eBay. As of Tuesday afternoon, the current bid was $590 with a little over two days to go. The money raised by selling the bunny will go to purchase more Trooper Teddies for Troopers to give out to children on different scenes.

The calming bags will be given out to people on the autism spectrum or their families, if desired. They are designed to help people with autism cope with the often stressful nature of interacting with first responders. “With any community that we want to reach out to, there are communication barriers,” explained Lt. Sarah Krebs, of the Michigan State Police. “This is one of the ways to bridge that gap with the autistic community. We want to train our officers to recognize common signs of autism and how to interact with them in constructive, positive ways.
