Set: Quarterback, Running Back
The team has all world quarterback Patrick Mahomes and he’s not going anywhere. For now, they have Chad Henne at backup and he’s a free agent next year, but this obviously isn’t a glaring need. Perhaps they could take a future backup QB but then they’d have to carry three on the depth chart. They also just used a first round pick on Clyde Edwards-Helaire last year, Darrell Williams proved serviceable (especially on passing downs as CEH gets acclimated to pass protection at NFL speeds), and they still have Darwin Thompson and Elijah McGuire as well. Running back isn’t something I’d spend on early again.

And he’s flirting back.
“I definitely see a connection [with the Bears],” he said last week after his on-campus pro day. “I definitely don’t want to say any names but you know you know I’m definitely excited, especially them being able to watch me in person and watch me spin and spin the ball in person.”
The Bears sent quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo to College Station, Texas to see Mond and to Palo Alto, California, to watch Stanford’s Davis Mills.
It’s a reminder that the list of quarterbacks in this year’s draft doesn’t stop after the top five five. For the Bears, it may only start then.
Staley pleased with Chargers progress in free agency
COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) Brandon Staley is pleased with what the Los Angeles Chargers have accomplished during free agency.
Now, the next step for the first-year coach is figuring out when he can see his new team on the field.
“I won’t feel like a real coach though until the players show up. Everything has been great so far, but I’m really looking forward to finally coaching the guys,” said Staley, who was hired on Jan. 17 after one season as the Rams defensive coordinator.
“I thought we executed our free-agency plan at a high level. We went into it with a clear vision of what we wanted to accomplish and certainly added a lot of experience and a lot of production.”
