MUMBAI: Bombay high court on Monday sought a report from jail authorities, by February 22, on a medical condition which Indrani Mukerjea, prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, alleges she is suffering from. Mukerjea has sought bail from the HC on both, health grounds and merit.
Appearing for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), DP Singh sought time before a bench of Justice P D Naik. The court granted the agency time to file a reply.
Her petition is sought on both her medical condition and on merits was her counsel Sudeep Pasbola and Gunjan Mangla’s contention. There is “no case’’ made out against her, said the counsel.

The Bombay High Court on Monday directed the Maharashtra government to file a report on the medical condition of Indrani Mukerjea, an accused in the Sheena Bora murder case.
A single judge Bench of Justice P.D. Naik was hearing a bail plea filed by Ms. Mukerjea through advocate Gunjan Mangla on October 29, 2020, on medical grounds.
The plea said that she had developed a neurological condition and was suffering from chronic ischemic changes in her brain arteries which could affect the supply of oxygen to her brain, resulting in a stroke. She had also suffered from blackouts time and again and had been on medication, it said.

Mumbai: A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Mumbai has rejected Indrani Mukerjea s application seeking exemption from wearing jail uniform.
Former media executive Indrani Mukerjea, who is lodged in Byculla jail, is one of the accused in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora.
Mukerjea has been behind bars since 2015 on charges including murder, attempt to murder, destruction of evidence.

In Maharashtra prisons, women convicts are dressed in a green saree while undertrials, who are considered innocent until proven guilty as per law, are allowed to wear civil clothes provided to them by their family members or lawyers.
