American 1 Credit Union offers annual free Community Shred Days for individuals and small businesses to shred their confidential documents in a safe setting.
The Hillsdale Shred Day is 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the American 1 Hillsdale Branch, 3192 W Carleton Road.
“In this day and age, scams, fraud, and identity theft are incredibly prevalent,” said Angela Hadley, VP of Risk for American 1. “Our team works tirelessly each day to educate our community on ways to protect themselves, and shred days are a great, secure opportunity to discard documents that could lead to identity theft.”

The Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce and DeKalb County Sheriff s Office will hold its Shred Day and Medication Take Back this Friday. They will accept papers to shred and medications you no longer need.
The annual event will be held at Southern Properties parking lot at 311 Gault Ave. N in downtown Fort Payne from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants can bring up to three boxes or garbage bags of paper to shred, there is no limit on medications accepted for disposal.

Happy Mother’s Day weekend!
There are many ways you can celebrate the day this year as things finally begin to appear to be returning to normal.
You can take your mom to Beak & Skiff’s for a lunchtime picnic, buy her some flowers at a sale at the Sangertown Mall, purchase her a virtual ticket for the new streaming Syracuse Stage play, “I and You,” or treat her with a State Fair snack at the Fairgrounds.
And baseball is back in Syracuse! The Mets are back in action at NBT Stadium all week against Scranton after a season away.
