Gastonia gears up for Trash Week 2021

Just in time for spring cleaning, Gastonia will once again allow residents to celebrate Free Excess Household Trash Week.
This year s spring free trash week when city workers haul away large or bulky household trash items without charging a fee falls between March 22-26, on customers regular trash collection day.
“We are already starting to gear up for this popular service that we offer to our residents,” said Solid Waste Division Director DeeDee Gillis. “We have been answering calls weeks in advance of the date.”
During the most recent free week, held last September, the city set a record with 560 tons of unwanted items removed from Gastonia curbsides.
For the first time since 2005, Elm Grove could have a new village president.
Neil Palmer, who has been in that position for 16 years, will face off against former village trustee Mary Inden on April 6.
The winner will serve a two-year term and will watch over a community of 6,136 that was recently ranked as the second-best place to live in Wisconsin by Niche.
The candidates for village president shared their views on how they d preserve Elm Grove s small-town charm. Palmer and Inden differ on their views of the village s downtown master plan.
That plan calls for an extension of Elm Grove Road, improvements to Underwood Creek, added redevelopment to the Reinder’s property and Elm Grove Park and Shop and creating more parking and public spaces, among many other updates.

Save the date and save those unwanted documents! The Ridgefield Lions Shred Day is Saturday, April 24 from 9-12 in the parking lot behind Starbuck s. This is a great way to safely shred all unneeded sensitive documents securely to prevent identity theft.
The cost is $10.00 per copy paper size box.
All money collected will be used by Lions Club for senior citizens, student scholarships and other local projects.
Frost Fire Park Hosts Ladies’ Ski and Shred Day

WALHALLA, N.D. – Frost Fire Park in northeast North Dakota is hosting Ladies’ Ski and Shred Day from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26 to encourage women to try skiing and snowboarding in the beautiful Pembina Gorge.
Here is the schedule for the day:
8 a.m. - Kelly Haaven with Warrior 3 Yoga from Langdon, N.D. will offer yoga (No RSVP required, cost is $6 per person)
9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Skiing/snowboarding (Cost is lift ticket + rental equipment and lessons, if needed). Professionals will be on hand to get proper equipment and fit for participants.
