County leaders in Palm Beach say they re doing what they can to mitigate the rising COVID cases. We can tell people to wear a mask, but we can t do anything about it if they don t.
County Vice Mayor Robert Weinroth says due to the governor s orders and new state law, local emergency powers are limited. And he s hearing from residents who feel strongly about the situation in one way or another. Constituents are coming to me and they re saying either Get off my back or Please help us and please save us from the virus. They re really no middle ground right now.
Robert Weinroth says "We can tell people to wear a mask, but we can't do anything about it if they don't." That sums up the limited power all local governments around the state have due to executive orders from the governor and new state law.
