AN ‘AT RISK’ Cricklade church will receive a grant worth thousands of pounds to fund urgent repairs. St Sampson’s Church, Cricklade, has been awarded a £10,000 National Churches Trust Cornerstone Grant to keep the church at the heart of the community. The church, which will also receive a £5,000 Wolfson Fabric Repair Grant from the Wolfson Foundation, is on the Historic England ‘at risk’ register. Broadcaster and journalist Huw Edwards, Vice President of The National Churches Trust, said: “I’m delighted that St Sampson’s, Cricklade is being helped with a £10,000 National Churches Trust Cornerstone Grant. The grant will facilitate repairs to the nave roof.

High Carntyne Parish Church was given a cash boost A CARNTYNE church has plenty to rejoice and be glad in after receiving a bumper cash boost. High Carntyne has been given £10,000 from the National Churches Trust Cornerstone Grant to fund repairs to rainwater goods. The work will make the Grade B listed Carntynehall Road building “watertight” and “preserve its historic fabric”. The kirk, built in 1932, has also been given a £7,500 Wolfson Fabric Repair Grant from the Wolfson Foundation on the recommendation of the National Churches Trust. It was one of nearly 60 across the UK to be given cash. Reverend Dr Joan Ross, minister at Carntyne, said: “We are extremely grateful to be awarded these grants.
A HEREFORDSHIRE church can finally get a new roof thanks to a share of a £483,000 payout from the National Churches Trust. A £10,000 grant from the National Churches Trust s Cornerstone scheme will help complete roof repairs at the Grade I listed St Barnabas church in Brampton Bryan, in north Herefordshire. The church, dubbed ‘The Puritans Preaching Box’, will be watertight again which will preserve its historic fabric.
