Shoppers across the Island and beyond are using the Wight Gift Card to buy from over 90 Isle of Wight businesses, both in-store and online.
Scheme is now starting to pay back
After a successful start selling the cards, the scheme is now starting to pay back as shoppers with a gift card start using them – getting themselves some great local bargains as well as supporting businesses as they recover from the challenges of lockdown.
Vectis Party leader, Daryll Pitcher, says the Boundary Commission proposals are "laughably inept" and show a "shocking lack of understanding for the Island and an incomprehension of basic geographical terms" .
Local hero Gary bags the Needles half marathon
The 2020 event was cancelled but this year’s five races attracted 700 runners – the most in the Festival of Running’s history
Isle of Wight runner, Gary Marshall, won Sunday’s gruelling Needles Half Marathon, with a time of 1:19:11.
Gary, of Newport,
started racing three years ago, winning the IW Marathon at his first
attempt in 2018.
Won by four minutes
He was pipped at the post in the Needles Half in 2019, but won by four minutes on Sunday, crossing the line with his daughters Rosie and Megan.
Gary said,
“It was great to be back racing, at a super event on a glorious day with perfect conditions.
