(Fernando Salazar /The Wichita Eagle via AP) Over the past decade or so, the rise of video-based social media platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok and the ubiquitous nature of smartphones have led to an explosion in idiotic and dangerous stunts, from the “knockout games” reported by the media in 2013 to the more recent “blackout challenge” that has led to at least one death this year. Now, police in the small North Carolina town of Roxboro are warning teens not to indulge in the latest bit of online stupidity- the “gun prank war“. The Roxboro Police Department responded to several reports of people pointing what look like real guns at drivers and other people as part of a “gun prank war,” according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. The warning has been shared over 900 times since it was posted just before 7 p.m. on Monday.

YouTuber Arrested After Attaching Dog to Balloons, Making Him Fly

Video via NDTV A YouTuber has been arrested after attaching his dog to an assortment of balloons and briefly making him fly. Per reports, including this one from BBC, 32-year-old Gaurav Sharma whose YouTube channel had more than four million subscribers at the time of the incident was arrested by police in India following a complaint by the regional animal welfare organization People for Animals. The Delhi-based YouTube personality was seen in footage taken from a since-deleted video shared to his page letting go of the balloons-attached dog, named Dollar, as the pet briefly floats in the air toward the second floor of a nearby building. At that point, another person catches the dog while it’s floating, prompting audible cheers.

But the driver, who was unaware of the prank, refused to drive them. A judge in California sentenced the twins to community service and a year s probation for misdemeanour. They could each have faced up to five years in prison for the pranks.
