Kevin Fessette, 29, was convicted in April of one count of first-degree criminal sexual act. The jury returned the guilty verdict then after approximately 30 minutes of deliberations
The trial, which began Monday and concluded Thursday, marked the first in Schenectady County since November and only the second since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The state recently allowed trials to resume again.
Judge Matthew Sypniewski then imposed the maximum term Thursday.
Fessette was originally arrested in 2019, after the child first disclosed the sexual assault.
