But survivors have said that being shunned by relatives and neighbours is far worse than being infected with the virus. Bihar has been badly hit by the second wave of the pandemic. We spoke to a few pandemic-hit survivors on their experience in fighting COVID-19. Sunil Sinha: I never imagined that life could be so cruel to my family Life was going smooth for Sunil Sinha, a journalist with a local vernacular daily based in Patna, until April 19 when he posted on Facebook that he had tested positive for COVID-19. There was nothing unusual about this because coronavirus infections were spreading fast across Bihar.

UGA professors urge public to recognize harmful algal blooms

As warmer weather approaches and people make their plans for the summer, researchers at the University of Georgia urge the public to be wary of the perfect conditions for harmful algal blooms in lakes across the state and to understand the dangers that come with them. UGA faculty members Susan Wilde, an associate professor of aquatic science, and Deepak Mishra, a professor and associate head in the department of geography, are working to better understand these blooms and what they mean for the health of the environment and the public, and have developed an online tool to help identify these blooms.

The move comes at a time when several other economic policy think-tanks have witnessed a change in their top leadership. The National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) has also announced a selection process for a new director general, who will take over after incumbent Shekhar Shah’s term ends in 2021. The think-tank hasn’t specified when exactly Shah’s term ends.
