An Oral History of the Biggest Flop in the History of Portland Bars Talk about a lesson in ego and humility. (Thomas Teal) Looking back, Americano never had a chance. Sure, when it opened on East Burnside in March 31, 2016, it was in one of the best-known buildings in town. And it was started by one of Portland s most respected barmen, a national celebrity whose other spot in the city draws tourists from around the world. It had a hyped chef from New Orleans. The opulent white-on-white space was outfitted with the finest of everything the Ferrari of espresso machines to make coffee they roasted themselves, oblong modernist couches and a tower of bottles at the room s center stacked with exotic Turkish and Lebanese wines, and a wide array of Italian liqueurs.

Kingsmen guitarist Mike Mitchell, who made Louie Louie a breakout hit, was playing guitar days before he died in Oregon

Kingsmen guitarist Mike Mitchell, who made ‘Louie Louie’ a breakout hit, was playing guitar days before he died in Oregon Updated Apr 20, 2021; Facebook Share International ‘Louie Louie’ Day is a thing, celebrated every April 11. All this because of a sloppy, slurry version of the song produced in 1963 by a Portland group called the Kingsmen. The recording is driven by what The Guardian newspaper has deemed “the song’s ultra-primitive riff, which bludgeoned its way into your brain through endless repetition.” Mike Mitchell, who died Friday at 77, is one of the men responsible for that riff, which helped propel the recording up the charts in 1963, lifting the 8-year-old, Richard Berry-penned ditty out of obscurity. That riff made Mitchell and the Kingsmen rock ‘n’ roll icons.

Violent Rioter Freed by Portland s DA Is Arrested AGAIN After Feds Tie to Him to Attempted Murders of 2 Portland Cops

Image from Twitter. The Multnomah County (Portland) District Attorney dropped charges and freed a violent Portland antifa/BLM rioter last fall but now we learn that same man was also responsible for attempting to murder two cops in earlier riots. After freeing literally hundreds of antifa and BLM rioters from Portland custody despite destructive and violent riots after the death of George Floyd, even the lawless Multnomah County prosecutor’s office may not be able to look the other way on this case. Accused Portland rioter and would-be double murderer, Malik Muhammed, was arrested on Friday in Indianapolis for throwing molotov cocktails at Portland Police officers at separate riots last September. In at least one case he seemed to have set himself on fire.
