The fire that destroyed a Lubeck home is still under investigation, the fire chief said Tuesday.
The Lubeck Volunteer Fire Department responded around 5 p.m. Monday to a house fire at 2025 Kesteron Road, Chief Mike Stewart said.
A father and son lived there. The father had gone to pick up the boy from school around 4 p.m. and when they returned they saw smoke and immediately called 911 for help.
The house was fully involved when crews arrived on the scene. Firefighters did an external attack and were able to knock it down. Three dogs died in the fire after the house collapsed in on itself in the fire. The father tried to get them out, but was not able to reach them. Crews were eventually able to get in and retrieve the animals’ remains.
