JACKSON, MI – An armed man threatened a family member and refused to exit his home Sunday night in Jackson.
Jackson police responded just after 8 p.m., Jan. 31, to a home in the 400 block of E. Prospect Street, where a 54-year-old man had threatened a family member with a short barrel shotgun, Jackson Police and Fire Services Director Elmer Hitt said.
The man refused to leave the home, but police were able to get everyone else outside, Hitt said.

The former Sears will be converted into five new storefronts, said Patrick Vassar Director of Underwriting for Ignite Funding. Ignite Funding is based in Las Vegas and has developments in 28 states, Vassar said. They chose Jackson because there was a lot of potential for the site.
Police release name of woman fatally shot in Jackson

JACKSON, MI – Police released the name of the woman who was fatally shot Monday morning.
Jayda Blanchard, 19, of Jackson, died from a gunshot around 4:17 a.m., Dec. 28, in the 500 block of W. Franklin Street, Police and Fire Services Director Elmer Hitt said.
Emergency crews attempted to revive Blanchard but were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
