PHILADELPHIA – The City of Philadelphia denies that it illegally discriminated against and fired an Islamic firefighter who wore cuffed pants above the ankle and facial hair, in observance of his religion.

Retired Fire Deputy Chief Raimon Earl Ray Williams Jr., planned on retiring this year to practice his unique golf swing, Fire Captain Charles Ladd said on Friday.
“It wasn’t the ugliest swing, Ladd said while Williams loved ones laughed. “I couldn’t look at it (the swing) . but he loved it.”
Williams had to retire early in 2019 due to complications from a stroke.
After serving the citizens of Clarksville for more than three decades as a firefighter, fire marshal and chief deputy, Williams, 61, died on April 30.
Over 100 mourners, Clarksville Fire Rescue leaders, family and friends gathered Friday at the First Missionary Baptist Church on Fairview Lane to say farewell to a man known for his big smile and dedication to the community.

Retired Orange County Fire Captain Joe Kerr announced his campaign for Orange County’s 5th Supervisorial District. Incumbent Supervisor Lisa Bartlett is prevented from seeking another term due to term limits. Kerr currently represents portions of Orange County on the California Regional Water Quality Control Board.
