VISTA (KUSI) – No strangers to emergency calls, Andy Valenta’s fellow firemen put out an online call for help once they heard Valenta was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma, an aggressive form of cancer that has rendered the 33-year-old fireman unable to work.
Valenta has a wife, Caylie, and two daughters, Lily, 4, and Grace, 2.
Thus far, the GoFundMe has been a lifeline for the Valentas, reaching more than $100,000.
The donations have been a huge blessing upon their family during a devastating time, Caylie said, mentioning that donations have even come from Andy’s old friends he hasn’t spoken to in years.

Here are the public comments not read aloud during the Feb. 16 Barstow City Council meeting

During the Feb. 16 Barstow City Council meeting, which was held via Zoom, 18 public comments went unheard by those watching online when they were not read into the record.
City Attorney Matthew Summers announced on Jan. 19 when 29 public comments went unheard that comments would not be read aloud into the record during meetings, saying state law does not require emailed public comments to be read aloud.
“Rather, the requirement is that the emails be provided to the Council and that has been done,” said Summers, who did not cite the referenced state law.
A family member said he had battled COVID-19 and pneumonia in recent weeks.

He filled the center up with Tootsie Rolls and covered it over with icing to make me think he made a whole new cake.
There was a dichotomy to Widmayer, many recalled on Wednesday he was a fun-loving guy, but he was serious when it came to supporting his fellow firefighters and the community.
