US-based BMW enthusiasts may remember a special edition model called the Lime Rock Park Edition, released in 2012 for the E92 M3 Coupe. Named after a racetrack in Connecticut, this model borrowed the Fire Orange paint scheme from Europe s M3 GTS tied to the lesser Competition Package. BMW only built 200 Lime Rock Park Editions, and today they command a hefty premium over a standard E92 M3, especially the manual transmission ones.
If BMW did build a Rockingham Edition M3 or M4, we d like to see Fire Orange brought back as the paint color, though one of the automaker s other Individual colors would do nicely as well. The Lime Rock Park Edition had other unique touches, too, including a titanium exhaust muffler, carbon fiber exterior pieces, a numbered plaque, and a decal showing the track in the window. All of these seem like simple additions for BMW to make on a new special edition model.
