On the brink : Rhode Island s small businesses fight for survival

On the brink : Rhode Island s small businesses fight for survival For Chris Parisi, small-business survival over the last year has boiled down to three words: Adapt or die. Parisi, who runs Providence-based Trailblaze Marketing and is the co-founder of the RI Small Business Coalition, which was created as an advocacy effort amid the pandemic, said that for owners, the crisis either put them out of business or put them on the brink of out of business. Some who managed to hang on have been dealt the crushing blow of being unable to find staff. It is such a punch in the gut to know that you’re finally ready to see the light at the end of the tunnel, you re able to open up your business, and you can t even hire people in order to operate your businesses, Parisi said. We have stories of restaurants closing whole dining sections just because they don t have the staff.
